Collection Requirements

Source: throat
Container: eSwab

Swab the back of the throat between and around the tonsils being careful not to touch the tongue

Routine cultures will screen for Group A Beta Streptococcus
Please contact Microbiology if interested in Arcanobacter haemolyticum
Patients with cystic fibrosis will be evaluated for: Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Burkholderia cepacia

Routine: 1 day
Cystic Fibrosis patients: 4 days
