Special Instructions

The preferred handling for a tissue sample is to not add fluids; however, fluid media filled containers will be accepted for qualitative results.

Lab Processing Instructions

Specimen:

  • BAL or bone marrow - transfer 1 mL to sterile tube and refrigerate
  • tissue, tracheal aspirate, or urine - refrigerate 
  • stool  - freeze
  • plasma  - spin, separate, and refrigerate
