Collection Requirements

Source: blood
Containers: Draw both

  • Two 2.7 mL Sodium citrate light blue
  • EDTA lavender

Volume:

  • Light blue: 2.7 mL in each vacutainer filled to the line
  • Lavender: 1 mL in vacutainer or 250 uL in microtainer

Special Instructions

Send to the Lab immediately
Must be tested within 4 hours of collection

Platelet count <100 and/or Hematocrit <30 or >50: test not performed

Platelet count >100 and/or Hematocrit >30 and <50: COL/EPI testing proceeds

  1. COL/EPI <160 sec: only COL/EPI reported
  2. COL/EPI >160 sec: COL/EPI and COL/ADP reported
