Collection Restrictions

Call Hematology before collection
Testing is limited to a maximum of 6 patients each day of testing
Can ONLY collect:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; specimens MUST be received in the Lab BEFORE 2:00 p.m.

Collection Requirements

Source: blood
Containers: Sodium citrate light blue and EDTA lavender
Volume:

  • Sodium citrate: Three 2.7 mL in vacutainers filled to the line
  • EDTA: 1 mL in vacutainer or 250 uL in microtainer
    • If a CBC or CBCD is also ordered the EDTA can be shared

Special Instructions

Send to the lab immediately
Must be tested within 3 hours of collection
