Factor VIII (8) Activity (Chromogenic)

Important Note

This is not for general use, testing is intended for use with Hemophilia A patients:

  • to monitor Factor replacement therapy of selected extended half-life coagulation factor replacements and
  • to aid in the diagnosis of Hemophilia A in selected cases.

It is recommended the Hematology-Coagulation Services be consulted prior to ordering a chromogenic assay. The clot based assay should be used for all other patients.

Source: blood
Container: Sodium citrate light blue
Volume: 2.7 mL in vacutainer filled to the line

Turn Around Time

Routine: 1-6 days

  • Batched testing completed on Monday and Thursday
  • Specimens must be received in Hematology by 9:00 a.m. to be included in the batch.

Specimen: plasma

  • Double spin and separate
  • Freeze if testing will not be completed within 1 hour of processing

 

Offsites: Send plasma on dry ice
