  • Patient should be off medications a minimum of 18-24 hours prior to collection (common hypertensives cause minimal or no interference).
  • Patient should avoid alcohol, tea, tobacco, and strenuous excercise for 8-12 hours prior to collection.

Lab Processing Instructions

  • Treat urine with 6 N HCL
  • Urine collected with preservatives must have a pH of <3.0, while unpreserved samples must have a pH < 6.0
